"Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him."
Colossians 3:10
I read this verse yesterday and found it to be motivational. I have been struggling with feeling unmotivated in living the Christian life a lot lately. There are several reasons that I can pinpoint as to why this has been such a hardship lately. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I am used to working with a deadline, I tend to be a follower instead of a leader, daily wrestling with sins and thoughts eats up a lot of my time and leaves me thinking only of myself instead of God's Kingdom, and struggling with doing things alone makes me not want to do them at all.
Thankfully, some women from the home group (Bible study) I am in came over last night for our monthly women's meeting. Another woman shared, without me even saying anything, that she has felt the same way this week.
After sharing that I too had been struggling with what I said above, our leader shared some interesting ways that brought me hope into overcoming my sins and moving on. I thought it would be nice to share them since it encouraged me so much.
First, she said that every time a thought of regret, shame, etc. comes into my mind to write it down; then, under or next to that thought, I should write down God's truth or a promise that overcomes that thought. She shared that she has done this and that many times after looking at the thought, she realizes that she is believing a lie.
She also shared that if ever in a hardship with loving someone to think of three (or however many) traits in that particular person to be thankful for that morning.
I hope this is an encouragement to you, and I hope it helps you in becoming more like God, our Creator.
